Jon Hixon joins Travel Portland as Senior Vice President of Business Strategy
Hixon has worked in the travel industry for 30 years
Hixon has worked in the travel industry for 30 years, most recently with Indiana’s Visit Indy as a Managing Director of Sales. He is a Certified Destination Management Executive and a Certified Meeting Professional as well as a member of the American Society of Association Executives, Destinations International and the Professional Convention Management Association.
His commitment to the industry has been recently recognized with the GMC-PCMA Outstanding Service to the Chapter Award in 2021. He currently chairs ASAE’s Meetings & Expositions Advisory Council while also serving on Destinations International’s Convention Sales & Services Committee.
Hixon’s passion for creating relationships, travel, and connecting people with compelling experiences inspires him to do great things in Portland. He is excited about Portland’s reputation as a city known for its commitment to diversity and acceptance, as well as the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and Portland’s renowned food scene.

He works with Travel Portland’s convention sales and services teams to bring the most diverse and economically impactful convention customers to the Portland community. His goal is to then exceed those customers’ service expectations and gain repeat business to be an economic driver for the region’s economic health.
